Few days ago, we posted the first interview at daPazze and kick started the new series. We also promised that we will be bringing another great interview with another famous blogger shortly. So, finally the wait is over and I am presenting to you an interview with the Founder of the popular design blog Hongkiat.com, Hongkiat Lim, who is a prominent blogger and design lover.
Many of us have been reading Hongkiat.com for a long time, and now its time to know more about the blog and the person behind this successful blog. So, without wasting any time, I would like to start the interview right away,
1) We all recognise you by your very popular blog Hongkiat.com for a long time, but if you would like to share a few introductory words about yourself with our readers?
My name is Hongkiat Lim, founder of hongkiat.com. I’m a father, a designer/developer, investor, avid photographer and a fan of Apple products.
2) How did you learn about Blogging and what made you start your Blogging career?
I jumped on the blogging bandwagon 6 years ago. It then become a career when the blog starts generating a little bit of money.
3) Is Hongkiat.com the only blog you ever had or do you have any other blogs too?
4) How did you made Hongkiat.com what it is today?
It took a lot of hard work, determination, trust & faith, as well as failures. It also got a lot of help from the contributions of other writers, and the support of readers.
5) I read at Hongkiat.com that you left your job for concentrating on this blog. What made you so confident that Hongkiat.com can financially support you?
It was really a leap of faith.
6) What kind of strategies you have followed to make Hongkiat.com what it is today?
Share what you know, and know what you share.
7) I think that Google organic search traffic is a big source of traffic for your blog, so how did you learn SEO and what SEO strategies have you implemented on your blog?
Contrary to popular believe, I think the better way to optimise a site is to stay away from optimising it too much. Google updates and changes their algorithm all the time, I figured it’s best to focus more on churning good content instead of analysing how search ranking works.
8) Long back Hongkiat.com focused more on design topics and inspiration articles, so what made you broaden your niche to cover Technology, Social Media and other topics?
As a designer/developer, I find myself reading a lot on social media and other tech stuff. So I figured, why not cover and cater more reading materials for designers too. Hence, the initiative.
9) Hongkiat.com has become a very big brand now. Do you manage everything alone or do you have a team to manage the whole site?
Hongkiat.com is managed by a team of editors, and a team of writers who contribute regularly.
10) What tips would like to give to us and to our readers for being a successful blogger?
Write great stuff and link to great stuff
