Technology is becoming more and more advanced and we are close to embrace a future where things would never be the same again, where we will be able to do the things, which we once dreamed of and thought that they could only exist in our imaginations.
TED (Technology Entertainment Design) presents different talks at each and every TED conferences worldwide, which shows new and advanced technologies that are being researched and developed for us. TED talks are very interesting if you love technology, design, or entertainment.
Here, I will be taking you on a ride to some extraordinary technologies that have been invented and are being made available to us, through some amazing TED talks that are really worth watching. So, get ready to witness some things that you might haven’t seen before,
SixthSense technology by Pranav Mistry
This talk shows you a technology invented by Pranav Mistry, which lets you mix the digital world with the real world around you. With this amazing technology you will be able to grab things around you through a camera, and put them into the digital world easily and with just gesture.
Did I mention gesture? Sure, I did, and with gesture, you can almost control everything around you. For example, if you want to click a photo, then you can just make a shape of a frame with your hands (as shown in the video) and take a snapshot without even having to press a button or go through menus to click a shot.
With this technology, we will be able to interact with the real world and your digital world more freely and going beyond the conventional ways of menus and button to do the work.
Wireless electricity by Eric Giler
Ever got annoyed by the messy wires around you, or have you ever thought that how good it would be if everything including electricity could be made wireless? Well, if you have thought then be ready to turn your thought into reality.
Eric Giler presents a concept, or rather a developed technology we can say which lets you transmit electricity wirelessly like any other transmission such as WiFi or Bluetooth and something like that.
In this above video, you will be seeing how we can use electricity without having any wires in between, for example, if you want to charge your phone then you won’t have to plug the charger in, you can just put your phone a certain place and it will start charging wirelessly.
We can see an example of this concept from the new wireless charging feature by Nokia on the Nokia Lumia smartphone where you can just keep the phone on a charging pad and it will get charged automatically.
Intelligent and interacting flying robots by Vijay Kumar
Vijay Kumar shows how robots can have artificial intelligence that lets them to cooperate with their fellow robots as well as perform certain moves based on the situation. This is another fantastic technology that is pretty much helpful for surveillance or any other operations.
As seen in the above video, the robots are intelligent, which means that they can take decisions based on the situation like a normal human being, and work accordingly based on that decision.
For example, if you let this robot fly in your house for the first time, then it can sense its way and visit your entire house without being hit by any obstacle or without losing its way. These robots are intelligent enough to cooperate with their fellow robots, thus in that way their strength and performance increases and they can achieve a various number of works together.
Advanced image recognition using augmented reality by Matt Mills
If you thought that image recognition meant only finding out information from a scanned image and displaying it, then you are wrong, as here Matt Mills shows an amazing technology that will thrill your mind.
This technology enables you to scan any image, and tag a video or any incident to it, so that the next time when you will be scanning that image, you will be presented with the video that was shot which makes you feel that the image has come to life.
For example, if you are scanning any image which has been tagged by someone else previously, then you will be seeing a video within the image frame related to it, as tagged by the other person. Its almost like the magical newspapers as seen in Harry Potter series in which images come to life.
This is an amazing technology, and will completely change the way we read newspapers, see prints or advertisements r any photo, as we can see an event which speaks more than the photo just by pointing our smartphone camera to the image and scanning it.
Imaging at trillion frames per second by Ramesh Raskar
You might be wondering after seeing the headline, which states “trillion frames per second”, that I have lost my mind. Well, to inform you I have not, because in this talk you will be seeing a technology that takes high-speed photography to another level.
In this video Ramesh Raskar shows how we can achieve a trillion frames per second imaging by a new technology called Femto Photography, using a camera that can trace or capture light. As seen in the above video, you can clearly see the path of light, or see light in slow motion with the help of this new technology.
This technology also helps in surveillance by finding out objects or humans hiding around a corner by just pointing the camera towards the corner and it the object around the corner can be seen by imaging different photographs.
This technology is here to make revolution in photography, and is currently the fastest camera in the world, which makes it able to capture different events around us, that were till now unknown or never before.
This brings me to the end of the article, and I hope that you have enjoyed watching these videos as much as I have in listing them here. So get ready to embrace the future as it is almost here. There must be some questions about these awesome technologies that are currently going on inside your mind, so do not hesitate and leave your comments below, we would love to gear your thoughts too.
