In the previous week’s article, I had mostly focussed on WordPress plugins to improve the SEO of your blog. I wrote in great detail about 5 must-use WordPress plugins based on my experience on using them. Now, in this weeks part of the series, I am going to talk about some of the best google chrome extensions for SEO. Not only google chrome, we would also talk about some of the awesome Firefox extensions that you must give a try.
Google Chrome and Firefox are the most popular and the most versatile browsers in the world. If you use Google Chrome or Firefox, then you can have a great scope to use some of the best SEO extensions and addons to analyse and work better in SEO.
1) SEO Quake
This is one of my favourite SEO extensions. I must say. It is available in both Chrome and Firefox, so you don’t need to worry about what browser you’re using. It is available in Opera and Safari too. What this tool does, is pretty simple. It just shows you some important SEO parameters on the fly, but if you can use it properly, then it can be extended to a great SEO analyser tool.
Suppose, you just visit a website, and want to see what’s the PageRank of it, just right clicking on the page and selecting PageRank option shows it to you in a second. There are a huge number of SEO parameters that you can see. Some of my favorites and most used parameters are, PageRank, Alexa Rank, Google Index, Twitter Tweets, Google PlusOnes, Facebook Likes, Whois, SEMRush Links, etc.
It also gives a great feature in which it shows SEO parameters in the SERP of Google. This comes in handy where you can analyse the competition for a particular query at a glance.
2) MozBar
MozBar is an another very important tool for SEO analysis. But this tool focuses on only SEOmoz metrics and data. I myself is a great fan of Rand Fishkin and his SEOmoz. They provide awesome data for SEO’s like us to work better.
This tool helps you to keep an eye on the important SEOmoz metrics like MozRank, Page Authority, Domain Authority, Root Linking Domains and more. It also has a great feature where it shows the important metrics below each and every search result in the SERP overlay. A combination of both the SEOQuake and the MozBar SERP overlay stands out to be a very powerful SERP analysis tool.
Another great thing that you can do with this tool is on-page analysis of any page you visit. Just click on the toolbar icon, and it will give you a complete analysis of the page elements, page attributes and link informations all in one place. So, this tool, not only proves to be a great off-page solution but also a very efficient on-page solution too.
It is available in both Google Chrome and Firefox. So, no need to worry, if you are using any of the two.
3) SEO SERP
This is an another great tool available only for the Google Chrome users. It gives you a completely free solution to the problem of tracking the ranks of various search queries of your website.
There are many advanced SERP rank trackers available in the Web, but most of them are paid solutions and there are only some free solutions with limited opportunities. But this extension makes the job of tracking rank super simple and super easy. Just add your website’s domain name in the tool and add any number of queries in it. It will automatically start tracking the ranks of these queries instantly.
It is very fast and efficient solution to track the ranks of the search queries. But I have noticed that sometimes the ranks shown by it are not correct. It shows some ranks that are incremented from what the actual rank is. But there can be some updates that can fix this issue. Otherwise it is a very efficient solution.
4) Link Diagnosis
This is not an extension nor an addon. It is basically a service only available to the Firefox users. You need to download their toolbar and install it in Firefox to get Full and Complete reports.
I must tell you that this is one of my favorite tools that I use quite often. I use Google Chrome most of the time, but this is the only tool which makes me go to Firefox. And its really worth it.
It provides, link analysis of any website. It takes premium data from SEOmoz and shows it to you for free. So, just think about it. You don’t need to spend a single penny, and you will be getting premium link data right from SEOmoz. It is really a great tool, I must say.
You can also create an account on this site and can log in and save your reports, so that you do not need to generate them every time. Just log in and view your previously saved link profiles. As simple as that.
5) WooRank
The extension is only available in Google Chrome. The extension doesn’t have much thing to do. When you press the WooRank button while visiting any website, it will take you directly to the WooRank website and will start the website analysis.
But what happens just after this is super-fantastic. It will generate a complete report of that website and will also give you suggestions to solve the impacts. It will show you the report on the basics of SEO, the content, keyword usage, backlinks, authority and even the keywords for which your site ranks better in Google.
So, all I can say, is that it is a must use service to analyze any site you want to. The more you analyze your competitors, the more is you will find opportunities to beat them.
In this article, I talked about some of the best and the most useful browser extensions, addons and tools for both Google Chrome and Firefox users. I myself use all of the above mentioned tools for a long time and they help me a lot to work as an SEO. In the next article of the series, we are going to deal with some desktop SEO softwares and applications, that I myself use and recommend my readers to use too. So, stay tuned for the next article of the series in the upcomming weeks. See you next time.

In terms of Chrome apps, i’m a fan of Pagerank Status. It shows everything that I need (for SEO) in just a click of a button (PR – Alexa, Compete and Quantcast ranks – backlinks – indexed pages – Whois – IP etc). SEO Quake was my favorite before as well but when I started using Pagerank Status, I immediately converted.
Thanks for the post Aritra!
