Well, in this article, you will be learning how to convert your current unique visits into a good number of page views, and to make your blog more engaging and appealing to your readers.

What are Blog Page Views ?

Blog Page views are the number of pages each of your visitors see while reading your blog. For example, if a visitors just sees your article in which he/she arrived and then leaves your blog, then your page view for that visitor is one, while if another visitor sees about 10 articles in your blog after reading the first article, then the page view count for that visitor is 10 (including the first article).

You can check your current page views on your blog by seeing your statistics, and seeing the page views per day in your blog. For example if you are using Google Analytics, you can track your current page views by selecting your Metric in the graph to “Pageviews“. But if you are using a tracker within your WordPress Blog, like StatPress, then you can see it directly in your Stats Page.

For example, the above illustration shows the StatPress Stats for the current month for daPazze. You can see that the Page Views are showing to be about double or even more than that of the Unique Visits (Visitors). Well, this is what I am talking about, and this is the thing we are going to achieve by using some simple yet effective techniques.

Increase Page Views in Few Simple Steps

You can increase your page views by using some simple techniques and using some widgets for customizing your blog to serve the purpose. These techniques will surely increase your current page views by about 200%, if you do it correctly, while keeping your site performance high. Just follow the points mentioned below, and you will be having more page views in your blog than ever before.

Setting Up Related Posts Area

Related Posts Area is probably the most important factor in increasing your page views, as this area will suggest articles that are similar to the one your visitor is reading, and so will attract them to read more articles in your blog.

Setting up a related posts area is really simple if you use plugins for your blog, but if you want to design a custom related posts area, then it will be a bit difficult job for you. So, I would suggest you to use plugins to do this job.

For this purpose, you can use the LinkWithin Plugin to display related posts at the end of each article. This plugin will definitely help you get page views for your blog, while setting up this plugin is real easy. Just create your LinkWithin Plugin from their site, get it from their site and install the plugin on your blog.

LinkWithin Plugin

The LinkWithin Plugin will fetch your blog posts, and analyze them, and will assign them to each post in your blog which are related to each other. In order to show up a thumbnail, you must have atleast one image in your post, which the LinkWithin Plugin will fetch, crop, and use as a thumbnail in the Related Posts Section. Its very important to have a thumbnail for each post, because thumbnails attract more visitors than plain text, so be sure to add atleast one image in your blog post.

Recommending Other Articles That May Help

Recommending other useful articles in your articles is a good practice to increase page views in your blog, as well as make your blog more SEO Optimized. For example if you are writing an article about WordPress Plugins, and you have also written a detailed article about a specific wordpress plugin which you have mentioned in the previous article. Then you can link to the detailed post from the WordPress Plugins article.

This will help your readers find out more information about that plugin from that detailed article about that plugin. Google also recommends this practice as a good SEO Optimization Practice. You can make internal links to your articles and recommend them to your readers in the following two ways :

  • Linking from Paragraph Words : You can suggest your other topics which are relevant by linking to your posts from words, in your post paragraphs. For example, if you are writing about Blogger Templates, and have also written a post about Blogger in detail, then you can link the word “Blogger”, to your other post based on Blogger. This way the user will get a detailed guide on Blogger from that post too. You can also see a live example about this linking in this post only. See how some words are linked to different posts, you can also do this in your blog.

Linking from Words

  • Linking from Recommended Article Section : You can also suggest other posts which are relevant to your current post by introducing a Recommended Post section within your current post, and then linking the title of that relevant post to the post. For example, you can include a small “RECOMMENDED” or “MUST SEE“  section between the paragraphs of your current post. You can see a live example of this in many posts of daPazze.

Recommended Section between Paragraphs

Adding Popular Posts Widget in Sidebar

You can also add a Popular Posts Widget to your blog sidebar to get more blog page views. The Popular Posts widget will display the popular posts in your blog based on visits to those posts or comments made on those posts, and it varies from plugin to plugin. You can set up this popular posts section in your blog sidebar easily using a Popular Posts Plugin that displays the popular posts in your sidebar.

I would recommend using the Top 10 WordPress Plugin for your WordPress blog to display the popular posts in your blog sidebar. This plugin will show your popular posts based on visits to those posts. The main advantage of setting up this plugin is that, as it will show up the popular posts, you will get more page views to your posts, and so will the popular posts section change, as one post moves up the column.

You can show large thumbnails for your popular posts so as to attract more and more visitors to those posts. This plugin also works on the same principle to fetching the first image in your post as the thumbnail image for your popular posts section. So make sure you choose a good image as the first image for your post.

This plugin also allows you to show up popular posts based on All Time Popular basis and Daily Popular basis. Thus you can have a section of Daily Popular Posts, which changes on daily basis, and a section of All Time Popular posts at the same time in your sidebar using two different widgets, provided by the plugin.

These steps mentioned above will help you increase page views in your blog, if done correctly. Its not necessary that you have to use the exact plugins mentioned above, you can use an equivalent plugin that serves the purposes well. If you have any doubt about the steps mentioned above for increasing your blog page views then feel free to ask me using the comment section provided below. So, have started getting more page views?

The three tips that you have shared will certainly help increase page views as they all focus on showing the user the next thing once they are done with reading a given article on a blog.

But, how would you manage the same widgets on a mobile platform? Any ideas?

    • Well, most smartphones support the widgets, but for backdated or simple phones, I don’t know about plugins for that yet. I will continue my research and dedicate a post on that mate. :-)
